“Until about 10 years ago I was painting mostly landscapes and animals. Although I enjoyed the subject matter I needed a niche that would set my work apart. I asked myself what is it that I love to paint and never tire of. The answer was “cats”. I find them truly mesmerizing, magical creatures. I never have far to look for inspiration. Ideas come to me as I watch my own cats and just let my imagination loose as I am continually charmed by them”.

At her recent Opening Reception she gave a walking tour of her exhibition and explained the stories behind most of the paintings. Besides cats, there are landscapes and other animals on view.

All of the paintings can be ordered as giclees (prints on canvas). In some cases the original oil paintings of the giclees on exhibit are available. In addition, all giclees can be ordered in larger or smaller sizes directly from the artist at Karen@ArtByZuk.com.

Whimsical Cats

This is the title of my current exhibition at the Spanish River Library in Boca Raton, Florida.   What a lovely library!   The upstairs gallery is a wonderful exhibit space. It was great fun for me to see my cat paintings hanging together in one area. My studio is in my home and isn’t large enough to hang much work so my paintings are scattered around the house.

The show has only been up for a little more than a week and I have sold a giclee and taken an order for another. New signups for my newsletter/email subscriber list, nice publicity and more website visitors. Definitely a successful show!

More paintings will be coming soon. Currently on my easel is a koi pond with boulders around and stepping stones into the pond. Besides the koi fish swimming around, guess what’s on the stepping stones?   Cats, of course. It will take a while to finish and I don’t have a title yet so stay tuned. Also waiting in the wings (in my head) is a sequel to Mouse House. More about that later.

Hope you all enjoy the summer. I will be staying cool painting in the studio while the more adventurous ones will be melting outside.

If you are in South Florida check out the show.
Here are more details and info as published in The Rickie Report.
